Funat

The Foundation for the Support of Science and Nature (FUNAT) is a non-profit institution organized to manage the Dr. Herculano Alvarenga Natural History Museum of Taubaté (MHNT).

FUNAT has a Board of Trustees and a Fiscal Council that evaluate and oversee all actions taken by the board of directors. In addition to regularly reporting to the Foundation's board members, FUNAT's activities are also subject to review and auditing by the Public Prosecutor's Office.

The Board of Directors consists of three members: a President Director, an Administrative-Financial Director, and a Scientific Director.

The Board of Trustees will consist of 7 (seven) members, one member appointed by the Mayor of Taubaté, one member appointed by the Rector of the University of Taubaté (UNITAU), one member appointed by the Board of Directors of the Municipal Chamber of Taubaté, one member appointed by the Environmental Military Police of the State of São Paulo, 4th Company, of Taubaté, one member appointed by the Institute of Biosciences of the University of São Paulo (IB-USP), one member appointed by the Rector of the University of Vale do Paraíba (UNIVAP), and one member appointed by the Zoology Museum of the University of São Paulo (MZUSP).

The Fiscal Council, the Foundation's internal oversight body, consists of three full members, elected by the Board of Trustees.
